2006 has seen some important changes for VANTUG and I am pleased to say that our plans to make VANTUG a better UG are coming along nicely. After dropping the membership fee in July our numbers have grown from around 500 to well over 900. We all know that it isn't about numbers but quality of events and services. However, the numbers do help to attract more sponsors who are needed to offset free membership and to go on trying to improve our offerings.

On that score I am very pleased to tell you that TOP PRODUCER Systems of Richmond have very generously agreed to help sponsor VANTUG during 2007. Our aim, of course, has to be long term stability through sponsorship and more is always better :). Our sincere thanks to TOP PRODUCER Systems for their support.

I would like to take the opportunity to remind you about our upcoming GM on January 11th at SportBC. If you haven't Read More »

This event is the re-scheduled GM that was cancelled in November due to bad weather. Santa couldn't deliver his SWAG due to Rudolph refusing to go out in the inclement weather. Santa's reindeers are obviously getting soft and this doesn't bode well for Xmas Eve! However, they have promised to deliver said SWAG on January 11th. In addition to the already planned SWAG there will be some additional books on security as draw prizes. Dana Epp has gone to some considerable trouble to work us into his busy schedule, including moving appointments around to align with avaliable venue dates. So let's show our appreciation by making a good showing. Please click on the link to register.

Just in case this doesn't reach you via email (we have had some problems of various kinds) I am including it here in my blog. If this applies to you please take the time to complete the survey. I know that surveys aren't particularly popular but the more useful feedback that we can give to MSFT, particularly Redmond, the better for us.

“The Windows Server Product Team would like to hear from the User Group Community. This is a direct anonymous survey, with the goal to improve services targeted towards User Groups. We want to know what your experience is with the community resources and information that is available to you today as a member of the User Group Community. We also want to know what you think could be done to improve your Community Experience. Please take a couple of minut ... Read More »

Thanks to all who responded to my "slightly mysterious" request. Those who "fit the bill" will be contacted in due course. I am sending this message via my VANTUG blog in the hope that people have responded to my request and have signed up. Please spread the word because I intend to make this my primary means of regular communication to VANTUG members.

I recently came across this quite useful reference by way of some general info about Vista - Windows Vista Product Guide.

Cheers

Due to the proximity to Xmas it has been decided to try and rearrange this event for mid-January 2007. As soon as a date has been fixed we will let you know.

Unfortunately, despite sending out a cancellation email last Monday evening (Nov 27th) for this event some people did not receive it, for which we can only appologize. In future, if there is any doubt, we would like to suggest that you check the website to see if there is a message posted here, which there was on this occasion. Inclement weather was the problem. However, there could be other reasons, such as speaker availablity, that could cause cancellation. Be assured we will always do our best to let people know in good time.
